The goals and aspirations in which I hope to attain from my collegiate experience include receiving and making the most out of a good education, becoming more independent/self sufficient, and instilling good values into myself that would benefit me in my future. In regards to academics, I would like to earn my degree in some sort of business/finance related major, and would also be interested in earning a minor in history or sociology. Regarding athletics, I would like go on some championship runs while also learning more about the business side of sports. Overall, I want college to be four of the most educational, productive, and rewarding years of my life.
I believe that my drive, ambition, willingness/ability to learn and adapt, and sheer love for the sport of hockey would make me a good candidate for one's team. I have always believed that the acceptance/ complacency with mediocrity constitutes as the biggest hindrance in one's life, and have thus set high goals/standards for myself while also working tirelessly to meet them. I also understand that the guidance of others is a crucial facet of success, and thus always work to improve myself with the advice and criticisms of trusted figures.
What I believe makes me different from other recruits is if needed, my ability to eliminate emotion and look at the sport in an objective, analytical way. Often times, emotion can get in the way of one's performance by acting as a mental inhibitor, whether it be in regards to line mix ups, ice time, standings, points, etc. I believe that one of my strong suits is eliminating emotion from said situations and instead look on as an onlooker -- thus eliminating the possibility of mental slumps. I also believe that my skating is something that sets me apart from other recruits. My young start in figure skating has enabled me to use my speed, edges, balance, and coordination as skills to offset most other holes in my game. Finally, I believe that my drive in academics and other extra circulars is something that makes me different than other recruits. I always want to give 100% to everything I do in life and want to be consistent in the effort I put forth, rather than just tunneling in on only one thing, which I believe translates into my consistency and effort in athletics.
