Sports have been a big part of my life ever since I was little. I did competitive cheerleading and played softball for many years. In 7th grade, all my friends were trying out for the middle school volleyball team. At first, I was hesitant and didn't think volleyball would be the right sport for me. Up until that moment, all I knew in life was cheerleading and softball. Eventually, my friends convinced me to try out, and I am so glad they did.
Volleyball has taught me many lessons that I don't think I would have ever learned if I didn't join this fantastic sport. It has allowed me to come out of my shell and have the ability to not hold on to mistakes. I am a very competitive athlete who always tries to put 110% onto the court. I can be a perfectionist at times, and I can get angry at myself, but that is only when I know my performance on the court should have excelled at a higher standard. I have realized those games where you might not be having the best day can be some of the most important games. They make me want to work harder and show me what I need to work on going forward. I am a team player and am not afraid to hold people accountable, including myself if need be. I want the team always to feel that we played the best we possibly could, whether we win or lose.
My goal in the future is to become an athletic trainer because I love the idea of helping others heal to return to what they love. Since sports have always been part of my life, I would love a job were sports can continue to be a part of my life. I also think I would enjoy coaching volleyball in the future. I want to help kids grow and become better at this fantastic sport and share all the knowledge my amazing coaches so far have taught me. I am a very bubbly person who looks forward to what the future has in store for me.
