Samantha Hovey '21 Recruiting Profile

I would like to go to college for volleyball because of my love for the sport. I have played since I was about 6 years old, and have not stopped loving it since. When I came across the opportunity to start playing at a higher level at Illini Elite, I knew that I wanted to go further with it in my life that just middle school and high school seasons only once a year.

I am definitely a hard worker both on and off the court. I strive to keep my grades up in all my classes at school, as well as help others that may be struggling to understand it. I try to maintain this behavior with my team in the gym too. I do my best to keep the team energized so that we can play together well and have fun while doing it. 

I have never been the loudest person cheering on the court at all times, but I do think that no matter what team I am playing with I am a more silent leader. I do my part and hold myself and others accountable for what we do on the court, but I also remember to encourage and help my teammates, whether asking them where they need their sets at or just showing them excitement when something good happens.
