Personal Statement

My first time playing volleyball wasn’t what you’d call “team-ready”. I wasn’t even what you’d call “coordinated”. Despite this, I earned a spot on my team and started to work. While growing five inches might’ve helped improve my game, I put all my effort into getting better until I made the elite club team and became a starter on the school team. However, that doesn’t stop me from working every free moment I get to further improve my volleyball skills. After excellent freshman and sophomore years of both academics and varsity volleyball, I’m thrilled to be pursuing a college career in both. I play club volleyball with a talented team, with several players who also wish to seek to play at the next level. I am  flexible when it comes to positioning and coaching styles. My older sister was a track and cross country runner; she was also valedictorian of her class. I get some of my determination from her. My younger sister gets her volleyball skills from me, and having a sister that plays makes it easy to pick up the ball and go. I work on my game in the gym, on the beach, in the basement, in the front yard, at plyometric training, and in the high jump pit, and I am looking forward to figuring out where I will play next.
