Olivia Szylar '20 Recruiting Profile

My goal as a college athlete is to be able to compete alongside a team that shares a deep drive to be the most competitive team and being a great group of people outside of volleyball. I want to have a college experience that has helped me grow not only as a player, but a person as well. As a member of any team, I promise to fulfill my role as a student of the game by valuing every minute I get to spend on the court by giving all of my effort for the betterment of the team. Volleyball is compromised of so many aspects that are more complex than the physical contributions it requires, I have learned to appreciate the game emotionally by being a supportive teammate in exciting and hard times, and I have learned to lead a team toward victory by studying the game tactically.  I want to give my hitters the best possible chances for success which can be made possible by bettering my individual skill--setting. I appreciate the time I have outside of volleyball to become a better setter by being able to work out and condition more as well as training my technique (even if that may be from a wall in the garage).  I strongly believe in the process it takes to reach success and achieve an elite skill level, I am fueled by a championship mindset, and I want to see success in the program I am apart of. I am willing to work for my teammates and the alumni who came before me to reach the unified, desired outcome of a program. I want to help leave a legacy that will make the team, coaches, and community proud. Thank you.
