My name is Mia Reed and I've been playing volleyball for eight years. Over the course of these eight years, I've learned many things that cannot be taught and have to be learned by experience. One of the major things I've learned about is dedication. I know that dedication is a very important quality to have, and I have it. I've also learned that with hard work comes great rewards. I put the work in to make myself and my team the best we can be.
Although I started varsity my sophomore year, my junior year of high school is really when I started figuring myself out and really became a more confident athlete. At the end of the 2013 season, I received honorable mention in the Mississippi Valley Conference. In my senior year of high school, I started playing as an outside hitter. I received first team in the Mississippi Valley Conference and I was also second team All Area. Throughout my high school career far, I was on honor roll every year. I was also a member of the National Honor Society. After my senior year, I committed to Southwestern Illinois College.
During my career at SWIC, I have grown as an all around player. In my freshman season, I was playing as a DS because of an ACL injury that I had in February of 2015. Now in my sophomore season at SWIC, I play all the way around as an outside hitter.
I look forward to continuing my college career and playing as much volleyball as I can. I plan on majoring in psychology and social work. Both of these fields suit my personality and my future goals. I know that I would be a great addition to any team, and I'm looking forward to playing at the next level.
