Emma Cross '22 Recruiting Profile

Hi my name is Emma and I’m excited to share with you my path to this great sport of volleyball! Thank you for taking the time to read my story and view my profile!

I’ve loved sports since I was a little kid. I started out in gymnastics which helped me gain coordination and body awareness. I learned that gymnastics suited people on the shorter side and since my body was apparently heading in the tall direction, I decided to give other sports a try. I played everything from soccer, basketball, softball, and swim team. In 5th grade, a group of girls from my school decided to form a team to play AAU volleyball. I had never played before but was intrigued to try something new and I instantly fell in love with the game. Ever since then I have been playing for Des Moines Christian School and several local volleyball clubs to learn as much as I can and to grow and push myself as far as I can in the sport of volleyball. Summers filled with volleyball camps, school practice and club have given me a great deal of experience on and off the court.

Even though I am competitive, you will see me having fun with my teammates and smiling on and off the court! The fact that you have a chance to celebrate after every rally gets me excited and is one of the things that keeps me pumped up. You will often see celebrations from me after a play (sometimes a little goofy and other times just pure joy!).

My goal is to continue to strive for the highest level of competition I can achieve in this sport of volleyball that I love. I am highly motivated to push myself to achieve goals and to play in college where I am challenged athletically as well as academically in the field of athletic training and nutrition. I hope to have the chance to show you my skills, determination and drive!
