Greta Blakemore '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Greta Blakemore, and I am a right side hitter/setter for the class of 2021. I began playing volleyball three years ago. I play setter and right side for my high school team, the New Albany Bulldogs, and I play multiple positions for my club team, Oxford Volleyball Club. I am relatively new to the world of volleyball, having only started in the seventh grade. Prior to moving to Mississippi in 2014, my family lived in a host of different countries; namely Japan from 2008 to 2011 and Canada from 2012 to 2014. I had never been introduced to the sport of volleyball until we moved to Mississippi and my older sister began playing for our school team. It was then, watching her team play, that I first acquired a taste for and fell in love with the game. I began playing my seventh grade year, and I haven’t looked back since. Fast forward three years and I am now the only freshman player to start for my high school’s varsity team. I assisted in leading my team to its first division championship and playoff appearance in school history, with an impressive record of 27-2. Academically, I am second in my freshman class and hold a 4.0 GPA. Outside of school, I have now played two seasons with Tupelo Juniors Volleyball Club and am beginning my first season with Oxford Volleyball Club. As a player, I characterize myself as a hard worker with a passion for the game. I am a competitor, always pushing myself to be better, work harder, and learn more in order to achieve greatness both on the court and in the classroom.
