Alexis Standford '23 Recruiting Profile

I am a rising senior at New Life Christian School, where I have been a starting varsity player for my entire high school career. Last season I led the team in kills and blocks, was awarded Outstanding Athlete, and was selected to first team All-Conference. This season,  I am looking forward to leading my high school team as captain and playing as an outside hitter.

One of the best things I have accomplished over the last three years is founding and coordinating a Rising Rams Volleyball clinic teaching skills to girls in grades 4-8. It has been great to have the opportunity to share my love and knowledge of the game with future volleyball players. 

Goal setting is very important to me, and one goal is to play in college, where I can continue doing what I love. Although I have spent considerable time strengthening and conditioning as a middle hitter, my coach would like me to contribute as an outside hitter for my upcoming high school season. I look forward to expanding my skill set to help our team succeed. This brings me to another goal of mine, to always be an encouragement to others. I love the "team" aspect of volleyball and strive to be someone others can turn to, lean on, and expect to be there through good and discouraging times.

My volleyball club coach,  David Pho, recently said this about me after a recent tournament, "Just wanted to give you a shout out for how well you played this weekend! You were killing it at the middle position and had a great connection with both setters. You handled the feedback well during the weekend and were able to make improvements using it in a short period of time (like your serving and the out-of-system setting)! You bring an awesome energy to the team and court when you're out there. Keep it up!"
