My name is Nia Smith. I am a 5' 8" defensive specialist graduating in 2018 from Arundel High School in Gambrills, MD.
I am a hard worker with a strong work ethic and commitment to academics, volleyball, and becoming the best student-athlete that I can become. My goals in becoming a collegiate student-athlete are to: continue my volleyball career at the collegiate level, attend a university where I can excel as a student-athlete, push myself to compete at the highest level of volleyball that I can, mature in my volleyball game, my academic life, and professionally in order to prepare for life after college/volleyball.
I am very coach-able and eager to learn so that I can become a better player. I am also very athletic and a diverse player. I can play anywhere a coach puts me on the court. I have experience playing OH, Middle, DS, and libero. As an athlete I take a lot of pride in being versatile. I take pride in being a dominant back row defender, as I am a strong defensive minded player with solid ball control. I also feel like my athleticism allows me to always be in a position to play any ball. When playing Outside I am aggressive and look to put the ball away every time I swing. I am the starting Libero for my high school varsity volleyball team.
As a student, I push myself with Honors and AP classes and have consistently been an honor roll student. It is my goal to be an impact player for a competitive college team at a school with a strong academic offerings. I believe I still have a long runway to accomplish more and hope to speak with you soon.
