Hi, I’m Fallon Gyapong! It’s my dream to play competitive volleyball in college because I love working hard to win, and I love being part of a team!
I'm currently a Class of 2026/sophomore and play club volleyball for MVSA 16-1s in Maryland/DC. I'm a 5’9” right side/outside hitter. Currently, my approach jump is 9'8” and my block touch is 9'7”. One of my biggest goals is to improve my vertical and reach, so I train multiple days of the week in addition to practicing with my team twice a week. I’m making progress, and I’m having fun even when my legs are burning!
I am a team captain on my high school team and a floor captain on my club team; but more importantly, I am an awesome teammate because I have a positive attitude, and I know how to work well with people from different backgrounds. My teammates each season look to me to help build connections and chemistry with each other on and off the court; and the connections and chemistry I help build lead to being a more successful team.
As much as I love volleyball, I understand college is first about academics and earning a degree. Continuing to perform well academically in college like I’m doing in high school is important to me. In addition to earning the MVP award on my high school team, I also earned the scholar-athlete award for having the highest GPA. I’m planning to major in business with an emphasis on marketing or advertising. I love helping people and making them happy, and I love interior design and home décor so I think marketing or advertising would be a rewarding career path.
Service and leadership are also important to me. I’m a member of my high school’s Key Club where I develop my leadership and communication skills by participating in projects like making food for the homeless and coordinating teacher and student appreciation events. I’ve also been elected as Vice President of my Class Council both freshman and sophomore years. This role allows me to work closely with members of my class and my school’s administration to plan school events and fundraisers. Additionally, this spring I was selected by my high school’s Athletic Director as one of five student athletes from my school to participate in the countywide Student Athlete Leadership Council Conference.
Thanks for spending a few minutes to read about me. I’d love to schedule a time soon to talk if you believe I could contribute to your program.
