My name is Brianna. I am currently attending Newton North High School in Newton, Massachusetts. I am a member of my school’s varsity volleyball and basketball team. I also participate in Unified Track in the spring.
I started on my high school’s JV volleyball team as a freshman, where I was able to learn key skills that helped grow my familiarity with the game. I quickly developed a love for the sport. I made my goal to return the next season an improved player. After working on my skills in the off-season at various training camps, I was able to return and make varsity my sophomore year as a middle hitter. During my sophomore season, I experienced a steep improvement in my play. Not to mention an incredible season with my team. We finished the season with a 22-1 record, making it through the playoffs to the D1 MA State Championship, where we won in four sets. During my junior year, I started as my team's middle hitter. We had another record-breaking season, finishing with a 25-1 record and winning the back-to-back MA state championship. My growth throughout the season was exponential, and by the end of the season I was one of the premier middle hitters in the state. However, I am still continuously working to achieve the next level. I am extremely proud of my team and what we have been able to achieve over the last two seasons. I have been incredibly fortunate to be able to play at NNHS, and at such a high level of competition. It is my goal to return my senior year and continue the train of success for my final season. I am committed to using my time on the court to better myself and my play. Successful teams have both discipline and enthusiasm, and every single player is a part of that spirit.
As a student, I am also extremely dedicated. I hold pride in my academics. I am an A student and have earned Honor Roll every semester. I am a strong believer that taking accountability for my academic standing and working hard in school will benefit me greatly in future endeavors. I am taking AP Language and AP Chemistry this year, and all other classes at the honors level. Along with this, I participate in my school’s string orchestra. I believe that it is my accountability and pride in my academics that makes me stand out among other student-athletes.
Along with playing two varsity sports, I also participate in other important extracurriculars. I am on my school’s Unified Track team, where I work with athletes with disabilities. This team gives everyone a chance to participate in athletics. It is an incredibly rewarding experience to work with these students, and it gives me the chance to help others find the same joy in sports that I have. I am a member of my school’s Second Step Club, an organization committed to aiding individuals affected by domestic abuse. I also recently participated in Newton North’s Spanish Exchange to Burgos, Spain. Outside of school I take part in Scouts BSA, where I served as the girl's senior patrol leader. I am quickly making my way up the ranks to Eagle Scout and am working to be the first female in my high school with this achievement. In the summers, I help out with my family’s Whale Watching business in Provincetown, MA.
I aim to keep myself well-rounded. While sports are a big focus for me, academics and other life experiences are equally as important. Thank you for considering me as a recruit. I trust that my drive for success is only increasing, and I believe that I can be a strong contributor to a college team.
