Hi,
My name is Emily Graham and I have been playing volleyball since I was in 4th grade, it wasn't until I was in 7th grade that I started playing club. I had done high-level gymnastics and softball in the past so I was very competitive, but none stuck with me like volleyball did. My first year of club was a great experience; I learned so much of what it takes to be a team player and what confidence means. My 8th grade year was my first year of playing all the way around as an OH and that is when I grew as a versatile player. Going into high school, I was nervous to play with girls older than me, but the volleyball program was so welcoming. I ended up making Varsity! My coaches were hard on me because they saw the potential I had and it improved my coachibility skills and self-motivation. I even got to play in our playoff games and many other tournaments. The next club season I had to play a position I hadn't played before and that was OPP all around. It was a challenge that I took and made it successful, playing for the team. My second Varsity high school season I was a starter at OH. At first I was nervous but then I learned that your team is there to support you, so play with confidence. From that point on it was all effort. At the end I even was awarded the leadership award! Another great experience I had was making the Lakeshore Region High Performance Team and traveling to Tulsa, OK to compete in the HP Championships. It gave me a great insight in very high level volleyball and getting to play each game was a lot of fun. I recently finished my Junior High School season at District Finals. I hit .254 this season as a six rotation player, playing OH and left back. I was very honored to have been nominated to receive the All League Award during the regular season, and am excited to start my senior season as a 6 rotation OH!
My grades are a huge part of my life as I maintain a steady 3.9 gpa and participate in student council at my school. I take all honors and AP classes and learned to balance volleyball with academics. I would love to play at a program that supports academics as well as athletics! After college I hope to go on and study oral health and become a pediatric dentist!
Thank You for reading!
