My name is Chelsea McLenon and I have been playing competitive volleyball since I was 9 years old. Over the last eight years, I have acquired many important skills, including knowing where to put the ball and how to anticipate and adjust my body accordingly, but more importantly, I’ve learned how to be a good leader, a hard worker, and a team player. I have played for a variety of coaches, each with their own interpretation of the game, and I quickly learn how to adapt my play to suit their unique coaching style. My main positions are outside hitter and defense specialist, but I’ve successfully played all around. In 2013, after my first varsity season, I was peer-nominated as the Offense Player of the Year. During a recent tournament, I received a medal for Best All Around Player. Also, at the end of my 2014 school season, I was named MVP and made the all-downriver team. I believe that hard work is the key to success and I look forward to playing at the college level.
In 2010, I was selected to participate in the People to People program and had the opportunity to visit Australia as a global ambassador. I currently have a 3.5 GPA, which includes an honors math class and participation in the criminal justice vocational program. I intend to pursue a degree in criminal justice and psychology, so I can apply my critical thinking skills, level head, and sense of responsibility to a rewarding career path.
With the support of my church and encouragement from my parents, I aspire to accomplish my goals in both academics and athletics.
