My name is Ruby Foster, and I am in my freshman year at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina. I graduated high school in the spring of 2022 from Onsted High School in Onsted, Michigan. During that time, I was involved in Student Council for four years as a secretary, and in doing so, I was a part of many blood drives and community service opportunities. I was a proud member of the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) and Onsted Academic Club (OAC) for two years. During High School, I participated in Track and Field, but my primary focus was volleyball. As a freshman, I was the starting middle blocker for our Junior Varsity team. During my Sophomore year, I achieved a position as the backup middle blocker on Varsity. As a team, we ended the season with a 50-5 win/loss record, which broke the previous school record for wins and losses. During my junior year, I took the starting MB position supporting my team as we became LCAA conference champions for the 2nd year in a row. To finish off my high school volleyball career, I played as an all-around middle all season. As a team, we also made it to the final 8 for the state. We were the first team in 30 years to do so. After my four years at Onsted High School, playing for their program, I was blessed to break the school record for career blocks (361).
Outside of school, I played club volleyball for nine years. At the start of my travel volleyball experience, I was a member of the number 1 Glass City Volleyball team in Toledo, Ohio. My second to last year there was very successful as we went 56-6, winning 5 of our eight tournaments, and ended the season the #1 team in OVR. The 2020 season was cut short, but we were still able to compete in 4 tournaments, winning two of them and being ranked #131 in the Nation. After Glass city, I went on to play for two more years at different clubs; during this time, I attained an offer that I accepted at Belmont Abbey College.
Lastly, I am in the transfer portal to find my perfect fit for a school. Now that I have decided on a major in nursing, I am able to start my search again for a program that suits me in the classroom and on the court. I am a great listener and a player that wants to learn as much as I can within my next and last three years of playing volleyball. I look forward to this new challenge and chapter in my life!
