Hi I'm Judy Steffens, class of 2026 at Traverse City West Senior High School. I am on the honor roll and I love playing volleyball. My freshman year I went to Glen Lake High School and I was a starter on the varsity team. My sophomore year I transferred to Traverse City West and tried out for the varsity team. I made the team but due to MHSAA transfer rules I wasn't allowed to play that season, however I was still able to practice, travel, and be a member of the team as the team manager. This year I was so excited to play again. My first year as a Titan went really well. I was a starter and a six rotation outside hitter for the team. I helped my team win two tournaments this season and finish with a 27-8 record.
I made Prep Dig’s 2026 watch list in the winter of 2023 and now I'm ranked as one of Prep Digs top 150 for the class of 2026 and top 50 outside hitters for 2026. I play club volleyball for NorthShore Volleyball during the winter and spring months as a 6 rotation outside hitter, and I made their top national team for the 4th year in a row and earned an AAU All-Star award in 2022 at AAU Nationals. To keep in shape I play beach volleyball during the summer through NorthShore's Beach Volleyball league. I practice 2-3 days per week and compete in 2-3 tournaments throughout the summer.
I'm also a member of NorthShore's Future Coaches program, where I help coach younger youth on the indoor courts during the winter and also on the beach courts during the summer. I also referee volleyball games for all the local elementary teams through my school’s LEAP program. I’m very passionate about volleyball and love to coach as much as compete. My goal is to attend a school with a really great volleyball program as well as a great biology and/or animal science program. I have a passion for animals and really want to go to vet school and be a large animal vet someday. I am also a member of the National Honors Society, 4-H, and multiple animal organizations. I participate in our local fair every year where I show goats and auction off my market project. When I'm not showing livestock, coaching, refereeing, or playing ball, I love to watch college volleyball to help me improve my skills and IQ.
