I began playing volleyball in 6th grade and ever since then, I have had a passion for the game. Playing on JV as a freshmen and Varsity as a sophomore and junior, along with participating on club teams with Atomic! and Michigan Elite Volleyball Club, has made me realize that I do not want my volleyball career to end after my senior year of high school. I would love the chance to continue playing volleyball at a college that would best fit me when it comes to academics and athletics.
At the end of my freshmen year, the varsity coach at my high school brought me up to play with his team for districts and News Heralds. The next year, although the coaching staff was altered, I still made the varsity team as a sophomore and was a season long starter. Junior year I was named captain of my high school team by my coach. My team finished 3rd place in the league that year and I also received All League, All Region, and All News Herald that same year. I am determined to bring the same kind of energy and skill to the team my senior year to try to help our team come out on top.
I also play basketball in high school have always been a season long starter. My coach named me captain my junior year. Although our basketball team was only 0.500, I put everything I could into the games, just like I do with volleyball. Being a student athlete is very time-consuming. While playing sports all year round, I have managed to maintain a 3.9 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Throughout high school, I have been placed in all accelerated classes, such as accelerated Chemistry, English, Geometry, Algebra I & II. I also participate in Advanced Placement (AP) classes. My junior year I took AP US History, and my senior year I have enrolled in AP Biology and AP Spanish. I am also a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Spanish Club, and Interact Club. Being able to balance school work and sports has been a huge but accomplishable task for me ever since middle school. I believe that my study and athletic habits will transfer along with me into college as I plan on studying to become a Physician’s Assistant or a Registered Nurse.
