Hello Coaches! My name is Layla Abner and I am 16 years old. I am attending White Pigeon Jr/Sr High school as a junior this coming school year. The last 2 years I have played on my school’s junior varsity team as a Libero. This upcoming season I will be on the varsity team as a DS(or Libero?), we aren’t set to a certain position yet because it is only summer, but we have an idea of what our position will be. During the off season(winter), I play club. This past winter was my first time ever playing club and it was the best experience I have ever had playing volleyball. I had made friendships with teammates that I haven’t met before. My coach taught us a lot from keeping a good mentality, to keeping a positive attitude, to having fun when you are on and off the court. They were the best team I have played with. Also during the winter our school has softball conditioning. In the spring I play softball. I have played on varsity the past 2 years as a third baseman and occasionally center field. But this upcoming season I will be playing catcher. Academics has always been an important aspect of my life and I’ve always kept my grades an average or higher. I always try my best to keep them as high I can. When I went into my sophomore year of highschool I entered this Program called “Early Middle College“ for Glen Oaks Community College in Centreville, Michigan. So it means that I take college classes that also count as a high school credit. I took interpersonal communications in the fall and public speaking in the winter time. I managed to keep an average in the fall and a perfect 4.0 in the winter. My junior year I will be taking 2 classes I will be taking an art class and a psychology class online for Glen Oaks. I believe I am a good candidate for your team because I am vocal, I can keep a positive attitude and I just want to have fun.
