Volleyball is my sport, I could play it every single day and never get tired of it. When I go to a beach, I am looking for a volleyball net! My teammates sometimes even joke about how much I just love to play wherever I can. If I were on your team, I would continue to work hard every day. I would say that one of my best traits is determination. I never give up on anything whether it be school or sports. And although I like to be a leader, I am also open-minded to my teammates' and coach's advice because I respect them. You can always tell which player on the court is me because I am always cheering and yelling and picking my teammates up.
I have played three main positions in volleyball. As a freshman, I was the high school varsity libero. I have been an outside hitter for my club team for the past two seasons. But I took the leap to talk with my coaches about becoming a setter which is what I truly want to be. I have been working toward that goal ever since, and I am now the starting setter for my high school team, and a setter on Memphis Metro Elite 16 Black competitive team. I feel that my experience as a libero and outside hitter helps me understand and appreciate the function of a setter and what my teammates need for us to be a winning team. I can also still hit, and I love any opportunity to hit right side!
School is even more important to me than volleyball. I have always been told that if my grades are not A's then I will not get to play. Without great grades, I will not be able to accomplish what I want in life after college. I have played competitive team sports since I was 8, and I think that the competition in sports has helped me be even more competitive in school. I am a math and science girl, and any career in those areas will be competitive. Volleyball helps me keep a competitive mindset and spirit.
