Out of all my experiences, volleyball has had one of the greatest impacts on my life. Both of my parents played volleyball, so some of my early memories include going to volleyball matches and passing a volleyball in the yard. I have always loved volleyball and was very excited to start playing on a club team when I was in fourth grade. Since then, I have gained many qualities and skills. For example, I am naturally shy, but volleyball has helped me gain confidence and brought out leadership skills in me that I didn't know I had. Additionally, I have learned to step outside my comfort zone and be loud through my experience as a libero. I am also able to stay calm in game situations with a lot of pressure, like in a large, competitive tournament with a lot of noise. Most importantly, I have learned to overcome challenges both on the court and in life. One particular challenge I have faced as a player is my foot speed, as it was one of my weaknesses. I have put in many hours of training to increase my speed, and it has become one of my strengths. Overall, I believe I am well suited to play college volleyball and I am looking forward to finding a school that has the best fit for me athletically, as well as a great academic program that will allow me to pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian while playing the sport I love.
