Hello everyone! I'm super excited to have this opportunity to personally introduce myself to you! As you probably know already, my name is Baylee Greene. I am very hard working and have an insane competitive drive. I was undersized for a long time, so I faced many doubters along the way...people who didn't know me - coaches, teammates and opponents. That fueled my fire. Every moment I spent on the bench was an opportunity to lead from the sideline, observe and communicate with my teammates on the court. At the same time, I approached any doubt as an invitation to exemplify my simple motto, "Be undeniable." I'd take the court and make an impact, whether in a game or at practice. Soon after, I have always proven them wrong!
I have been playing volleyball, the sport I am most passionate about, since the first grade - yep, I know it's a long time, but every practice and game was worth it! I am the oldest of six kids, with three younger sisters. I have coached multiple leagues of 3rd & 4th graders, where my love of the game is at its purest. My next oldest sister is in 4th grade and played club volleyball against mostly 12U teams as a 9 year old. She was tiny in comparison, but was clearly the most confident, aggressive, and fearless leader on her team. I believe I have been a great role model and example to her, as my sisters are following in my footsteps.
I am a great leader, extremely focused, and always have an open mind for feedback! I crave those little tweaks to inch closer to as perfect as I can be. I do my best on and off the court to be the best teammate. I strive to be a positive influence to keep everyone engaged and fighting regardless of the score or opponent!
I played on varsity my freshman year and also was the starting libero on JV. I battled more than one senior in the defensive role my sophomore year and earned the privilege of being name the libero. I played libero throughout my junior year and our school ended with the best record we've had in nearly a decade. Going into my senior year, I had the mentality that I would again have to earn the libero jersey, which kept me motivated and dedicated to continuous improvement. I was able to earn the libero role again, which gave me the opportunity to lead among multiple other defenders.
This has certainly been an unusual year with many challenges. I'm excited taking full advantage of the fact that I am lucky enough to be able to play this club season in this tough environment!
