Chiara Richeson '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Chiara Richeson and I began playing volleyball in the 8th grade. I arrived to the game as a late-comer but have completely fallen in love with the game of volleyball. I never found much interest in volleyball when I was younger and instead focused most of my time, energy and passion on the game of basketball.  During the fall season my 7th grade year, I ran cross country. My 8th grade year I decided to try volleyball (instead of running cross country) and I just finished up my junior season at Gothenburg High School, in Gothenburg, NE, starting as a defensive specialist and I was also voted team captain. I would love to continue to pursue my dream of playing volleyball after high school, and am very interested in playing at the next level.  As a strong leader both on and off the court, I pretty much just love competition! I am a three sport athlete at Gothenburg High School. I have started on the basketball team as the point guard since my freshman year. I am currently a team captain, have received many conference and state awards, and have positioned myself in the Top 10 record books in both assists and 3 pointers made in a season. I also pole vault on the Swedes track team and last year placed 5th at the Conference meet.  I am a member of Student Council and was voted the Junior Class Vice President. I also participate in many volunteer clubs, the High School Musical, and FFA. I recently qualified for State FFA in Ag Demonstration. With my involvement in all of these activities, I have learned to manage my time extremely well and know how to have the energy to put my best foot forward in everything I do. I carry a 4.0 GPA, recived a 24 on my ACT, and I am ranked 1 out of 66 in my junior class.
