My name is Grace Holcomb, and I am a Middle/Outside/Opposite Hitter for the class of 2019. I attend Burke High School in Omaha, NE. As a Freshman I was a starting middle hitter and was able to also swing our Reserve team as well as our Jr. Varsity team during the season competing in many high school games and tournaments between the three teams. Transitioning to my Sophomore year I became the starting Varsity middle hitter and played in every game for the 2016 season. Together our team earned the Most Improved in Nebraska Class A title for 2016. I also play for Omaha Volleyball Club as a middle where I get to work on becoming the best player I can be with every conditioning session, practice, tournament and team bonding function.
I am a disciplined and versatile player not only on the court but off the court as well. While volleyball is my passion I am also a dual athlete playing school varsity and club soccer (SOFC) as well. I enjoy playing both sports and have found that they complement each other well in agility, speed, quick reaction time, and strength in jumping and hitting.
I am searching for a college with a dynamic blend of competitive volleyball and my love of ministry. Academic life is extremely important to me. I maintain a 4.66 GPA and take all Honors classes and have a plan to continue onto AP classes as my high school career continues. I am a Rotary Honor Roll recipient as well as a National Honor Society member. I also spend a lot of my free time with my youth church family at Stonebridge Christian Church with camps and mission work. It takes perseverance and extreme dedication to pursue any degree as well as to play volleyball in college. I believe that I am that student athlete.
