Personal Statement

Hello, I'm Caroline Festersen and my goal as a student athlete is to be able to continue my volleyball career at the highest level possible while furthering my education. Although I played softball for ten years, my sister helped me discover my love for volleyball by motivating me to play. She has always been my role model and influencer on and off the court as well as someone to bring out the competitive side. Fast forward  ten years, and I am ready to take the next steps towards my future as a student athlete. As for my academics, I am not sure what I want to study, but I definitely plan on attending a four year college and achieving a degree.

Volleyball has helped me discover how motivated and dedicated I can be. No matter the sport, my past coaches have always commented on how coachable I am and my willingness to work hard to get better. Whenever I step onto the court, I am looking to play my best game individually and as a team player.  Don't let my 5'3" stature deceive you, as my work ethic in volleyball and extra vertical/strength training makes up for it. Often times, before or after practice, I find myself getting even more reps on my own time to make sure I am playing to my full potential. I work twice as hard as anyone else to be in the same position and continuously improve every season. I am always up for a challenge, which my personal goals set me up for everyday!

I have always played as a setter in the past, but have lots of defensive knowledge and plan on getting experience as a libero this upcoming club season. Thanks!
