NJ PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2013
WE MADE IT TO THE NATIONALS AGAIN! SEE YOU IN MINNESOTA!
I have been playing volleyball since the 7th grade and have worked very hard to experience exponential growth. The last 6-9 months have been an amazing experience. As a starter for the Atlantic Valley Volleyball Club 16-1 team, I helped us qualify for Nationals in Dallas, TX. Then in the fall my Ridge High School team had its best year in history as we entered the state tournament. We upset 3 teams in a row, including the #2 team in all of New Jersey (we beat them 2-0) to advance to the state semi-finals. I was the overall leading scorer in every single playoff match and also provided many service points, aces and digs playing back row. We finished the season at 21-7 and ended up ranked #6 in NJ. Besides making First Team All-State, I also won 2 different New Jersey Player of the Year Awards from the NJ Star Ledger and The Courier News.
Unfortunately I sprained my ankle during my sophomore year and missed the bulk of the HS season, just as I was starting to really take over some matches. Most of the rival NJ teams and the local press were caught by surprise by my improved game when I came back for my junior year having worked so hard in the spring and summer seasons.
What excites me most about my future collegiate career is that all of my coaches and various clinic instructors tell me that I have not even come close to my full potential. I am looking for a program that excels in both academics and athletics. I want to surround myself with the very best professors, coaches, and teammates to enhance my natural leadership qualities and become the very best student-athlete I can be.
Warm regards,
Stephanie
