My name is Peyton McGregor, class of 2021 at Cherry Hill HS East. I am a 6’1” Opposite playing for CHHSE and CHVBC (Cherry Hill Volleyball Club). In addition to playing Opposite I have also played Outside. This past Club season played up a level on CHVBC’s 18s 2020 travel team.
My attack jump is 9’7”; my goal is to increase my attack to 9’10” in my senior year. During my last 2 varsity seasons at CHHSE our record was 22-5 and 16-7, both years we took 2nd in our division and this year we were seeded 5th in the state.
I come from an athletic family. My father excelled at basketball and football, my aunt trained in track and field for the Olympics in Toronto and is a professional stunt double/coordinator. My grandfather was All American in HS and college (U of Iowa) and played for the NY Giants, Atlanta Falcons, and Toronto Argonauts. I trained for 10 years in dance and played soccer, softball and basketball before turning my focus solely toward volleyball in the summer of 8th-9th grade.
I work hard to improve as a person and an athlete both mentally and physically. Throughout the school year, I work out several afternoons a week in the weight room at school and attend travel club practices 3 times a week. From late June to mid-August I do strength and power training for 2 hours 3 times a week at a local fitness center, practice 2 times a week with my HS team, play grass doubles 2 nights a week. I also attended Skills Training for 3 hour each Sunday where the focus is on sharpening my hitting, passing and serving skills.
I have been working part time for a marketing research company since Jan 2020 and continue to work from home during the Covid-19 shutdown. Last year I babysit for 2 young children (1 with special needs) after school on my training off days. For fun, I enjoy playing with my 4 dogs, making videos, jumping on my trampoline, swimming and spending time with my friends and my mom.
Sadly our 2020 club travel season was cut short but I hope you had the opportunity to watch me play at one of the tournaments on the east coast. If not I encourage you to watch my 2020 Club (#53) video from the first 2 tournaments of the season - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4QvqCt7wws&t=12s and my 2019 HS (#50) video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWN0nUIT26w&t=14s where you will see that I am not only an enthusiastic and focused player but also one who likes to have fun; I like to energize and support my teammates both on and off the court.
I did not have the opportunity to take my SATs this past spring but I am a well-rounded, solid B student with a GPA of 3.0 and I made honor roll in my sophomore year. I understand that my current GPA is not what a lot of colleges are looking for and I will be working harder over the next year to improve it. In college, I would like to focus on either Human and Social Services or Communications and Media.
I know I have much more to learn to become an accomplished collegiate volleyball player and I am looking for a college that realizes that I am constantly working on being the best player I can be. I am also looking for a college and that has an academic advisory program that is interested in my academic as well as athletic success.
If you would like additional information, I can be reached directly at [email protected] or 856-834-0940. You can also contact my HS Coach (also the CHVBC Director) Scott Mooney at [email protected] or 609-744-6658.
Thank you so much for viewing my profile and videos and for your future consideration.
