Salutations, my name is Nicole Nase, my sophomore year of high school is currently coming to an end and I am very excited to be getting ready for my junior year. I go to school at Point Pleasant Beach High School on the Jersey Shore.
UPDATE: I am currently near the end of my volleyball season (Junior year) and the team is having a great time. We are heading into the Shore Conference playoffs and then on to States.
Although I ran cross country for 7 years and I played soccer as a goalie for as long as I could remember, as soon as I touched a volleyball I knew that it was the sport that I was drawn to. When I entered high school as a freshman last year, I played both volleyball and basketball, I worked my hardest in both of these sports and tried to get better everyday. But I soon came to realize that volleyball was the sport that made me the happiest and made me want to work hard every day, to earn my spot as a setter on the court.
My proudest accomplishment so far occurred during my sophomore season. My coach had asked me to play varsity as a sophomore. I realized that I was the third string setter, as a junior and senior setter played above me. This motivated me even more to work harder in practice and earn my spot on the court. I knew my hard work and dedication paid off when I ended the season as the starting setter. I continued to advance my skills and play in my junior year as the starting setter.
After high school, I would like to pursue volleyball in college. I want to learn and grow as a setter and also as a team player. In college I would like to major in nursing/biology. My earliest experience with nurses was when I was hospitalized as a two year old to repair a hole in my heart. Going through procedures and when I was afraid or nervous it was always the nurses to my rescue. They helped me to calm down and take my mind off of being in a hospital bed. That experience, along with many others, helped me to ultimately decide that I wanted to pursue nursing and help others the way that I was helped and comforted.
