Hello, my name is Kerry Donovan! I started playing volleyball about four years ago in eighth grade when I switched over to it from soccer. As soon as I switched sports and started playing volleyball, I absolutely fell in love with it. Throughout my past four years of playing volleyball, I've played DS, Middle Hitter, Outside, and Opposite which have each allowed me to improve my skills immensely. I originally started playing on a regional club team when I was in eighth grade. From there, I was able to learn many basic skills that gave me a push-off to eventually start playing on national club teams during my freshman, sophomore, and junior (currently) years.
On the days I don't have practice, I am doing things daily to improve as a player. Whether I'm working out to increase my skills or watching film to reflect and see what I can do better on the court, I am extremely driven to continue to improve my mindset and physical abilities. This year, my high school team lost a very big game that prevented us from advancing in states and ultimately ended our season. It was a tough loss; however, it motivated me to continue to work harder during the club season and to reflect upon what we could do better for next year. While I'm extremely committed to being an athlete, one of my main priorities is focusing on my schoolwork as well as immersing myself in extracurriculars outside of school. So far, I have taken a rigorous course load with the addition of being part of my school's honor roll. Outside of school, I am part of a non-profit and do local volunteering. Additionally, on my high school team, I was lucky enough to be chosen as a co-captain for the upcoming 2020 season.
Playing volleyball at the collegiate level would allow me to further my academic interests while still continuing to play the sport I love in an amazing outlet.
