I have been playing volleyball since I was in the second grade. I’ve always been drawn to the sport, for some reason volleyball has always peaked my interests. My parents would always catch me hitting or passing the ball in the front yard when I was young. I have the devotion to play volleyball, I always am watching it and learning and I always put out 110% when I’m on the court. I want to go to college on a volleyball scholarship and study astronomy. If I do get on a college team I will never stop putting in effort to make myself better. I do believe that volleyball has helped me through school. Anytime I’m stressed or put in a difficult situation, I take a few deep breaths and go outside to practice volleyball. I always felt a connection to the sport and I love the sport a lot because it keeps you on your toes. Volleyball has made my reflexes faster and my attention heightened.
In the eighth grade my middle school team made it to the championship game. we were against our rivals whom we had lost 2 times to prior. we had taken the first set and now was the second. Against this team we always won the first set but the second and third set were never in our favor. This time we had them right where we wanted them. the score was 24- 25 we were up by 1 and it was my serve. I took some deep breathes, did my usual wind up, then looked at my dad who smiled back at me. I let my hand hit the volleyball. The ball flew over the net. The girl passed the ball back over the net in which it went to our middle, who passed it to our setter who set it to our outside. The girl hit the ball again and I chased that ball to the out line. Everyone was screaming and I watched the ref call it out. Before I knew it my team and I were in a huge hug jumping and yelling. That day we took home the first place trophy and I never felt so proud of myself.
