Hello! My name is Stephanie Wu, a high school student attending Benjamin N Cardozo High School. For some background information about me, I have been playing volleyball as a Libero for about 6 years already. I truly love this sport and the adrenaline it brings into my life. Acting on this passion, I constantly dedicate myself to becoming a better player for my fellow teammates by controlling what I can control- my skills. I know this may sound cliche though, I feel that the best thing I can do for my team is to improve myself. By simply taking the time out of my schedule to workout, running outside, to self pepper with the wall, to go over defensive plays, and to enhance other skills are my ways of showing that I put my team first. With this mentality, I can achieve something athletically which was making it onto the Girls Varsity Volleyball Team when I was just a freshman. I am even a co-captain for the varsity team in my junior year. Other than in school, I play volleyball outside of school too. I have played for the Bayside Volleyball Club Team since my freshman year, where I was even chosen to be a captain for my 17’s team. As for the summer months, I continue to play volleyball through summer volleyball programs. I play in the CYO summer league and the NYC Impact NACIVT league. Additionally, I would like to highlight that I take my academics seriously too. Thus, this enables me to manage my academics well with an A throughout my high school years. As the next chapter of my life begins, - going to college- I wish to continue playing the sport I love and maintain high academic standards. I will prove to myself and others that a student-athlete can be both smart and talented at the same time.
