7/21 Update: sadly, due to Covid 19 and a change in my career plans to pursue nursing instead of pre-med, I have transferred out of Oneonta and have been accepted at St John Fisher College for nursing. This was a difficult decision for me but one that made the most sense. I am not sure if I will play here and want to focus on academics at this time!
Update: I am excited to announce I have committed to SUNY ONEONTA Volleyball! I look forward to continue playing the sport I love while pursuing and education in pre-med. Oneonta volleyball🏐 2024
Hi, I'm Madison Chacchia and I will be a 2020 grad with the goal to study on the pre-professional health track of Physician Assistant and play collegiate volleyball while I am doing that.
Volleyball has been a huge part of my life since I was young. In 5th grade, a youth volleyball program began in the Rochester, NY area and I first put my hands on the ball. I never looked back. I have played each year and made friends from all over the country in the process. It has given me the opportunity to lead both on the court and in the classroom. I have a drive to always achieve my very best in class and on the court.
I am a Libero for my school and club team but have also played as a Setter when my coach has needed me to. I enjoy both positions and love being the leader on the court. I think my willingness to play any position the coach asks of me makes me a great candidate for any volleyball program. I am a team player. I am planning to take all the standardized tests as they are scheduled and will update scores as I get them.
My high school has a requirement for graduation of volunteer work and internships. This is a great program that shows us how to be contributing members of the community into life after school. The internship has proven to give us a glimpse of what the career looks like before we arrive in college. I think these add personal value to the students of Wayne Senior High School.
