Kelly McConekey '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Kelly McConekey and I am a member of the graduating class of 2022. I am currently a sophomore at Coastal Christian High School in Wilmington, NC.  Volleyball is my primary passion and plays a huge role in my life. I play year round,  going from school ball to club ball and then to beach volleyball in which I am currently ranked 7th in my age group of 14U, and 33th in 16U nationally by USAV.  It is my ultimate goal to play volleyball in college. I currently play all round for my club and high school team, although outside hitter is my primary position. However, I have also played middle and even libero.  As I am a flexible player,  I would be more than willing to play whatever position I would be needed for by my college coach, and I would own that position! My enthusiasm on the court is a big part of who I am and how I play.  That enthusiasm and positive energy is the reason I have been named captain in both my high school and club team.  Academically, my high level of energy is also mirrored in my grades.  Even with a busy volleyball schedule,  I have maintained a GPA of 4.5 in all my honors classes.  I  am a devoted student-athlete. Good grades are very important to me and when I go to college I would like to major in engineering or animal sciences.  After college, I would like to apply to veterinarian medicine.  Ultimately,  playing volleyball in college and getting a great education would be a dream come true for me, as I am the type of player that has the drive to continue to excel and make any college proud to have me as a member of their student body.
