My name is Rhyann Heyen (yes it rhymes). Many people say they fell in love with volleyball when they were in elementary school! For me, it was very different. The moment I absolutely knew I wanted to be a collegiate volleyball athlete for a division I or division II school was my Sophomore year in high school. I have never felt more accepted or belonged in my life, until last years season. Nobody loves to make strong, new bonds and have fun, more than I do in the gym. I have a dream, and with that dream I make sure I am the utmost committed, coach-able, competitive person I can be. Again, in order to achieve playing at a high collegiate level, I continue to be involved in the community and school as much as I can. Being a team player is what me and my teammates were taught, which is something I am extremely proud of. Although, some days can be hard, but having success in academics and in sports is highly rewarding. I continue to train every single day, whether it's in the gym or playing with my dad. You also may be thinking, "How come she isn't in Club Volleyball?" Well, we're in a super small corner of North Dakota, where those opportunities are not there. Even though that is a set-back, I don't ever let that stop me from achieving my dream. College-wise, my biggest goal is to go into dentistry and eventually become an orthodontist. I have dreamed of becoming a dentist since sixth grade and finally, part of that dream came true. I now work at a local dental office in southwest North Dakota, where I shadow or help with whatever is needed (or whatever I can actually do).
