My name is Madison Sima, and I've been playing volleyball since I was in 7th grade. I was a passer at that time and never saw the front row and transitioned into a hitter in high school. Ever since I got to high school I have been training almost everyday trying to reach my full potential.
My freshman year I started junior varsity as a middle hitter. My sophomore year I transitioned to an outside hitter and played all around. Junior year I started as middle and outside hitter on the varsity team. This past season my senior year I was primarily outside hitter, but played all around. I play all year round plus train at MAQ. I train at MAQ twice a week on my speed and strength as well as middle and outside position. Here I focus on strengthening, and working to improve my vertical and becoming a more accurate hitter. At MAQ I am really able to focus and try either new things or tweak the small problems.
For club, I have been a middle, also playing outside hitter at Maverick on their national team. This year I am playing for club NOVA on their national team with coach Miguel Ramirez.
While my passion is volleyball, I also love working with animals and playing other sports. Besides volleyball I also play basketball and softball for high school. As a hobby I enjoy snowboarding and working out. In the future I hope to not only work with animals, but would enjoy coaching volleyball to younger children.
My siblings really bring out my aggressiveness and my competitiveness. I have two older step brothers in college, one of which plays college football. I also have a younger step sister who is a year younger than me and is basically my twin. She also plays volleyball, we continue to make each other better players as well as smarter players. Finally I have one younger brother in 8th grade who plays football, basketball, and baseball.
One of my goals is to play volleyball at the college level. I know that my versatility, dedication and integrity as a player will help me to be an asset to my team. I believe one of my stronger qualities is the ability to bring my team up when we are down. I am kind of like the loud obnoxious cheerleader on the team. I believe that if you are enjoying the game and teammates it will make your team a greater competitor.
