My name is Alyssa Mehalovich. I am a Libero/DS, graduating in 2018. I’m signed on athletic scholarship to play volleyball for Multnomah University in Portland, Oregon, Fall of 2018. MU competes in one of the toughest NAIA volleyball conferences in the nation with four teams in the CCC conference going to Nationals in 2017 and two of them making it to the top 8. MU has only competed as an NAIA school since 2015, so they are a young program with lots of potential. I am looking forward to making an impact my freshman season.
I played volleyball four years at Clackamas High School--three years on varsity and two years receiving all-league honors. I wrapped up my 8th club season in 2018, playing with North Pacific Juniors (NPJ) out of Salem, Oregon.
My Junior year of high school was such an amazing year! I was named as a Top 25 Libero in the state by OregonLive. I was a second-year varsity player and starting Libero, receiving all-league honors, playing for one of the strongest high school volleyball programs in the state. My Clackamas High School volleyball team went to the Oregon 6A state tournament again in November 2016, and made it to the championship match vs. Central Catholic, where we ended up 2nd. I led the team with 11 digs in the championship match. This was our sixth consecutive year finishing in the top five in the state. Here is a highlight video from the state tournament that is on UniversityAthlete, CaptainU, and my YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/ewWxKuSozUI And, I was named to the PrepVolleyball.com Defensive Dandy list for the top full-time defensive players in the country in 2017 & 2018.
I played club for North Pacific Juniors for two years (18s), Athena for two years (15s & 16s) and North Clackamas Volleyball Club for four years (12s & 14s). I have always played competitively, having been named to the Emerald City Classic All-Tournament team in 2014. I excelled in the 16-Open national qualifiers during my 2016 club season with Athena Volleyball out of Beaverton, Oregon. A highlight was attending the GJNC in Indianapolis in June-July 2016 to finish with my team, Athena 16-1 Gold, 12th in the National Division. I also received invitations and attended USAV High Performance training camps three consecutive years (2016, 2015, 2014).
Academically, I am graduating with a 3.32+ GPA. I have earned 25 dual college credits in the areas of business, management and broadcast communications. I competed in DECA two years, as well as a Broadcast Media competition. I would love to play volleyball professionally after college and hope that my college playing experience helps prepare me for that, too! I love volleyball and have been playing since I was 6 years old. I hope to continue playing volleyball all of my life. I'm so excited to see where volleyball takes me!
