Hi, my name is Maddie Myers! I have been playing volleyball since the 4th grade, and fell in love with the sport. I knew I wanted to play for the rest of my life. I started doing more in the off season like camps and clinics so I could keep improving. Eventually I decided to try out for a travel club team, Horseshoe Volleyball Club. I played as Setter for both my 14u Regional and 15u Travel club seasons with them. For my 16u year, I switched to Ridgetop Volleyball Club. I played Setter for 16u Mixed and 17u Premier Travel with Ridgetop and hope to play with them for my 18u Club season.
This past year for my High School, Bishop Guilfoyle, I was the starting varsity right side, which was a whole new position for me, as well as JV Setter. I was always a Setter from 7th grade forward, this was my first time playing as a hitter. I loved learning a new position and it really helped me be a better all around player. My school team had a 22-3 record and won districts.
My most recent club season, my 17U club season, I was the starting setter. This team was an amazing group of girls who would soon become my closest friends. This friendship helped our team exceed our expectations. During the season we did very well in all of our tournaments, placing in the top 2 or 3 out of 30 or so teams at just about every tournament. We always worked hard and stayed positive and always made sure to be sportman-like with our competitors.
Now that I am becoming a senior, I know deeply that I want to play in college. It is one of my biggest dreams to play at the collegiate level and keep improving my game, keep working hard and keep forming new friendships.
On a personal note, I am a strong student who loves to learn new things. My Junior year I had a GPA of a 3.5 and I plan to improve on that my Senior year. I am a very outgoing girl who never struggles to make new friends and make others feel welcome. I look forward to being a leader on my High School team starting this summer with practices and league, and hoping it will lead to another successful season.
