My goal is to become a player at the collegiate level. I began playing volleyball as a freshman in high school and immediately had a knack for it. I was a varsity starter from the time I was a freshman until I was a senior. I have endured many challenges through injuries, but have overcame them. My freshman year I got a concussion in practice at the beginning of the season and then during my senior season, I had a very serious ankle sprain that kept me out for 4 weeks. Despite these letdowns, I focused on keeping my team up and doing better. My senior year, I was named a captain, which made my injury so much harder because I knew so many were looking up to me; I made sure to come to practice every day, even though I was on crutches, and cheered very hard to make sure my team never let the momentum down. I am a very flexible player, despite having specialized into a position. My freshman year, I was playing as a right side hitter, but then was moved into a middle hitter. With a new coach, he experimented with having me as a left side hitter, but ultimately I was most effective in the middle. I am an all-around player and am able to play very good defense in the middle back. In my character, I am a very hard worker and I push myself harder than anyone else could. I strive the play as perfect as I can and will continue to do repetitions until I can hit or pass as well as possible. I am very compassionate towards my fellow teammates and will help them improve in any way I can. Academically, I am an honors and AP student and have a 101.638 GPA. I try to do my best in the classroom just as on the court because that is the most important to me. I take classes in order to challenge myself and have worked to have good time management, so I can balance my athletics and academics.
