Hello, my name is Alyson Reese and I am a senior at Hanover High School. I play both varsity volleyball and basketball. Sports have always been part of my life ever since I was little. I have found a passion through sports and I would like to continue being part of a team at the college level. My true passion is science, and I would like to go into sports medicine after high school. I would like to major in Biology and then go into Med school. After seeing many injuries on both courts I have always wanted to figure out what had happened after the game was over. Most of the time they had to do with bones, muscles, and ligaments, and that is why I would like to become an Orthopedic Surgeon.
I am involved in organizations at school. I am part of the National Honors Society, which is a select group of high school students who have maintained over a 3.0 GPA and have helped their community throughout high school. I am also part of Key Club. Key Club is a club in which high school students help out with the community.
Honors that I have received include the following. I have been on the A honor roll every semester of my high school career. I was a captain on the basketball team my sophomore year and I have been a captain on the club volleyball team. I have been selected as the Rotary student of the month for December of 2016. I have been chosen as the student of the month my freshman, sophomore and junior years of high school, and I have been chosen to apply for the Elks scholarship in my community.
I am part of the Mason Dixon club volleyball team that is run by Dean Marcionette. Dean has been one of my club coaches ever since I was in the 5th grade. Before Mason Dixon, I was part of a club team known as Smackdown Volleyball. This was where I first started my volleyball career. Along with club volleyball I have a personal trainer, as well as a team trainer for the basketball team. I have been training with Dana Alexander at the YMCA for a little over two years. This has been a great experience working with her and seeing how far I have come to being a better athlete. I am at present involved in an internship with her at the Y. I have also been involved with the basketball trainer for over three years. He has helped me tremendously with both agility and strength skills.
I feel that I would be a good candidate for the collegiate level because I show leadership skills both on and off the court. I also have skills on the volleyball court that would benefit a college team in the Division II or Division III levels. Some of my personal traits that I feel would lend themselves very well to college sports are my work ethic, dependability, commitment to personal betterment and team play, tenacity, and my drive to do my absolute best in everything I do.
