Throughout my entire volleyball career, I was told I wasn‘t tall enough or good enough to play volleyball in college. My freshman year, I barely even made the team. Though this really hurt me, I persevered. I spent a lot of time focusing on my jumping and hitting technique, and was later told by my coach that I proved him wrong. He told me he was glad he gave me a chance. The next year, I was a starter on varsity as a right side. My coach took notice of how high I jumped and moved me to middle. He even asked me to play for his club team. I continued to try my hardest, and became a class 2A section 1 all-star my junior year. It felt good to prove the people who didn’t have faith in me wrong, and I can‘t wait to prove them wrong when they see me play in college.
Along with this, I’ve been told it’s very difficult to balance both sports and school, and that my grades could suffer. I knew that i could balance it though. Not only was I able to play volleyball for high school and a club team, I was able to maintain a 4.1 GPA, and stay in the top ten in my high school.
