My name is Sydney Heffner, I am part of the class of 2020 at Northampton Area High School in Northampton, Pennsylvania. After I finish high school, I am interested in furthering my academic studies in college. I am interested in the education field, particularly physical education and health. I have a passion for volleyball and have a strong desire to play at a highly competitive collegiate level. My other interests include playing any type of sport, exercise, listening to music, spending time with family and traveling.
I’ve played club volleyball since age 10 and have played various positions. I have been the starting setter (6-2) for my varsity high school team both freshman and sophomore years, and starting setter (5-1) for my junior year. I have also been the starting setter (5-1) for my club team, Anthracite Volleyball Academy (AVA), for the past few years. When I am not in rotation as setter, I generally remain on the court to play defense, right side or outside hitter. I also have experience playing libero. I am a flexible player and am happy to play any position I am asked to. In order to improve my physical abilities and agility, I have trained at the Barry Lovelace Athlete Training Academy.
Some of my accomplishments are as follows: I had the opportunity to travel to Sonoma, California to train with the USA High Performance program. I was recognized as an honorable mention for player of the week during my freshman, sophomore and junior years in my high school conference. I led my high school team in aces and assists during my freshman, sophomore and junior years. I served as the captain of my club team. and high school teams.
I have a great desire to excel at whatever I set out to do. I want to be the best I can be as a student, athlete and person. I understand that with success, comes failure and I have learned to never give up hope. I come from a family that has taught me to work hard, give freely to others, help those in need and stay humble.
