I have been playing volleyball since I was 5 years old. Ever since I stepped foot on the court and held a volleyball in my hand, I knew that this sport would change my life and I would aspire to be a college athlete.
I have strong instincts, reactions, and mental stability, as well as a great deal of knowledge about the sport of volleyball. I have a powerful serve, strong defensive skills, and an ability to read the court and players on the opposite side of the net from me. I am an encouraging leader on the court and the loudest voice in the gym. I am extremely coachable and offer as well as ask for constructive criticism from my teammates. I strive to be a hard-working player, leader, and recruit.
I work hard year-round practicing my volleyball skills, playing on my school’s varsity volleyball team as a freshman and sophomore (second team all conference) and junior (first team all conference), playing for an AAU travel team that has won a significant amount of gold medals throughout our seasons, and during the summer I attend camps run by college coaches and professionals that assist me in my defensive and all around skills. I also eat healthy, workout regularly at home and the YMCA, and stay active to keep my physical and mental self fit.
Not only am I excellent on the court, but I also thrive in the classroom. I maintain straight A’s, am in National Honor Society, study hard, am a part of my school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes club, am in my school’s choir, am a part of student council, was inducted into the National English Honors Society, and have made the distinguished honor roll a number of times. I have participated and volunteered in many volleyball camps and events as well as serving my church through working in the nursery and the children’s church.
I want to attend a college that will support me in my academic goals to become an elementary school teacher as well as my athletic dreams of becoming a college volleyball player. I ultimately want to get the most competition available. I hope to become a better athlete, a better student, a leader and role model to those around me, and make my friends and family proud.
