My name is Caroline Bain, and I'm a 6 foot outside/opposite hitter in the graduating class of 2017. As you probably guessed, volleyball is my passion. I enjoy every single moment I spend on the court, whether it be at practice, on the court during a tournament, in training, or on the sidelines. In addition, I also consider myself a very serious and focused player, with a highly competitive attitude. Every time I step on the court, I have the drive to compete and win. Although I can be described as a "fierce competitor", I am a positive player. I'm always smiling, and I love to bring an upbeat, energetic, positive element to the court. I also consider myself a highly dedicated athlete, always aiming to improve my skills and overall athleticism in any way I can. If I could, I would be in the gym 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I train with a personal trainer twice a week, working on speed, agility, and core strength . In addition, I also do extra on on one work, aiming to improve skills in any way I can. My private coach, Jen Flynn Oldenburg, is currently working with me on my role at the net, also instructing me on my defense and back row play. My ultimate goal is to become the best player I can be, and I am willing to undertake any task to do so. This year, in addition to playing outside- I've also played a considerable amount of time playing opposite, and I've become particularly adept at blocking the opposing outside hitters. I currently lead my team in blocks and blocking percentage.
My academic goals are as follows: I am considering majoring in English or Business with thoughts of attending Law or Business school after my undergraduate studies. I also love working with people and helping them, and that combined with my size and strength, have me thinking about the physical therapy field, as a possible alternate. I consider academics equally as import as my athletics, and I work very hard at performing my best in the classroom.
Outside of athletics, I am a hardworking, family-oriented student. I'm the oldest of three siblings, and come from a VERY tall family. My dad is 6' 7", and my 13 year old brother is 6' 3". In my free time (which is extremely limited), I participate in Campus Ministry, volunteer as a coach at my club and elementary school, train, play piano, and enjoy spending time with friends and family.
