My name is Caroline Melillo, and I am an outside and right side hitter for both my club and high school varsity teams. For the last seven years, volleyball has been my life. For me, opportunities to play weren’t always available, so I worked on my own until I was fortunate enough to join a club team. On the court, my coaches would describe me as energetic, determined, and enthusiastic. I am vocal and supportive of my teammates, and I build them up after we lose a point. During the game, I am aware of what the other team’s strategy is and am able to adjust. Through volleyball, I have learned the importance of selflessness. Everything I do on the court is to benefit the entire team, not myself.
I have always been inspired by my older sister to become the best student, athlete, and friend that I can be. Her above-average grades, commitment to both volleyball and softball, and great social skills encourage me to work my hardest to get where I want to be. Both her and my mom played volleyball which introduced me to the sport itself.
I hope to graduate from high school with a strong academic performance and a commitment to a D2 or D3 school for volleyball.
