Hello, I’m Mattie, and thank you for taking some time to check out my profile! I’ve played volleyball for seven years now. I was a varsity starter at Tyrone High School my freshman year, and I started every game. My sophomore year, I started in all games except three due to injury, and reached my 1,000th career assist milestone. I started every game of my junior season as my team finished third in our district with a 14-5 record, and I was recognized as a team captain, All Conference First Team Mountain League, and All District District 6 Second Team. I am currently in my fifth club season with Horseshoe Volleyball Club and play on 17 Red (National). Last season, I was named an AAU Academic All-American for 16u. My normal schedule consists of at least three practices a week, lifting/conditioning three days a week, and tournaments on weekends. Besides volleyball, I am very active in my school and community and excell in the classroom, where I rank third in my class as of my sophomore year. I also scored in the 91st percentile on the PSAT with a score of 1190/1500 and am scheduled to take my SAT on December 7th 2019. I plan on majoring in mathematics in college and becoming a math teacher because I want to make a difference in people’s lives.
In the future, I have the goal of playing in college at the highest level I can compete at. I cannot think of going to college and not playing the sport I love. At 5”6’, I understand on paper I might not be the most ideal choice as a setter, but despite that I have worked to perfect not only the physical aspects of my game, but also my “intangibles”. I am an extremely vocal and passionate player, an energy giver, great teammate, value hard work, and strive to be a leader on and off the court. Although I would prefer to go to a school where I could make an immediate impact, I am willing to take on a different role to help the team succeed in whatever way you see fit!
