Hi! My name is Carolina Camacho and I am from San Juan, Puerto Rico. I’m currently a sophomore, Class of 2021 in Saint John’s School.
Outside of the classroom, I dedicate all my effort into volleyball. I have been a setter for both my junior varsity school team, Guaynabo Volleyball Academy (GVA) team and this year, our varsity volleyball team. My coaches have taught me to love and respect the sport of volleyball. This passion motivates me to work hard every day to improve my volleyball skills.
I am currently a member for my club's 16 and under (16U) team and so far, I have had the opportunity to participate both in the AAU Girls National Championship (2012, where I earned the Most Valuable Player award, 2013, 2015, and 2018) and in the Girls National Qualifiers (2016), and also in the Girls Junior National Championship (2016). I have also participated in the Puerto Rico Volleyball Championship in the 15 and under (15U) category, where I have twice earned the All Stars team selection and Most Valuable Player (MVP) (13U & 14U) award. Those awards are measured not only by on court - performance, but also by hard work, determination and discipline, both in practices and at every competition.
At school, I also participate in other extracurricular activities, such as the Be a Bee Project that it's initiative is to bring back the bees to our Island after the Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, in order to continue the pollination process, and helping my fellow Puerto Ricans in need after Hurricane Maria. I feel an immense satisfaction by helping others and impacting their lives in a positive manner during this time of reconstruction of our country. Making a difference in people's lives helps me value myself and meaning in life.
I am also involved in my school’s community service program, where I have assisted in the care of dogs housed in shelters, in beach clean-ups and assisting seniors in elderly homes.
I love to spend my free time with my family. My parents are my role models, who every day teach my sister and myself to give the best in everything we do. They have taught me to serve others, recognize and assimilate others and above all, to never abandon the values of my home.
I am interested in the fields of engineering and chemistry. My goals are to attend college in the U.S. and play volleyball. I appreciate you taking the time to look over my profile and I hope to hear from you soon.
