A little about me: My name is Lindsay Burns and I am a 5'9.5 Right Side Hitter from Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, TN. I am currently a junior who has earned a spot on the varsity team since Freshmen year. In the 2020 season, my team fought all the way to the State Championship game where I started and played all the way around. We have been District Champions for the 2019 and 2020 season. In 2019, I was awarded the All-Region Tournament team award.
I am very active in school outside of sports. I am the President of our Green and Gold Club, the Captain of our house leadership team, a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honors Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. I will be the yearbook editor my senior year. With two of my teammates, we founded a Let's Talk club that stimulates conversations concerning pressing topics with teens. I am a Senior Rep Ambassador for Debbie Wilson Photography. I have also performed many different service activities such as volunteering at a local elementary school and attending a week long service trip in Cincinnati. My classes consist of all honors or AP classes. I have maintained a 4.2 GPA, as well as a 27 on my ACT during my junior year (I intend on taking it more).
I am a player that is engaged on and off the court. I am very determined to push myself to work hard and do my best. After every point I bring an amazing energy to celebrate and encourage the team. Being a coachable player is a top priority as I actively work hard to improve my game and technique. Even off the court, my teammates are my best friends. This school season, my team and I fought hard and earned a spot in the State Championship in October. In the middle of the championship game, I sadly tore my ACL and I had to have surgery a few weeks later. Now, my rehab is going great and I am ahead of the recovery schedule. I plan to be back to playing by May of 2021. Even in the first day after my surgery, I have been actively working hard to to regain all of my strength back and return to the court better than ever! Despite all the obstacles I have faced this year, I have a strong love for the game. Volleyball has always been something I loved doing, even before I was old enough to be on an actual team. I was 9 when I started playing in school and I have stuck with it ever since. When I was 12, I decided to take my skills to the next level and I began to play club. Now that I am 17, I would love to take my skills to the collegiate level. Volleyball has always been a big part of my life that I never want to let go of. Some of my favorite memories consist of being on the court or off the court with my teammates. Thank you so much for reading this statement and I hope to be in touch soon!
Update on ACL. I have been released from the doctor to go back to volleyball 100% and we start school practices in June.
