Believe it or not, what I have found to be my favorite thing about volleyball after playing for about eight years is the failures. I've won awards for all tournament and all district MVP. I've won countless games and championships. I've gotten many kills and experienced many victories, but none of that is what pushed me to get better. Its the failures that made me want to succeed and strive to do better. My first five years of playing volleyball, I was strictly a setter, but when I came to high school as a freshman the coach told me they were going to try me as a middle. I could've said no and let this hold me back because I was comfortable with the position I was already playing, but I took it on as a challenge. Freshman year I was a starter on jv but I wasn't happy with that. Once that season ended I immediately started playing club with scenic city and worked my hardest to get better, then my sophomore year I didn't start for varsity in the beginning of the season like I expected so I continued to work as hard as i possibly could. Within the next few weeks I was starting over two junior middles who both were great players.
With this team, I was determined to keep my starting spot so i kept working for it just like everyone else which led us to the elite eight in the state. Unfortunately, we lost to the team who ended up winning the championship and many girls cried and completely shut down, but this only made me want to push harder. As the season ended, I switched club teams and joined A5 making the 16-2s team. I could've just not played since it was a twos team, believe me I thought about it, but I knew the coaches would teach me the skills I needed to keep getting better and eventually play in college so I stuck with it. As you can see from this, I never back down from a challenge. I am confident in what I do, positive, outgoing, and practical with my goals and I think I would be a great contribution to your team and most importantly, your school. Along with volleyball comes school and academically I want a place that can provide me with what resources I need to succeed in my studies as well as on the court.
