Volleyball has been one of my favorite sports since I first played in 5th grade. My parents always emphasized being a multi-sport athlete, so I didn’t play at a travel club level until my sophomore year of high school when I realized volleyball is the most important sport to me. I played on regional teams during middle school in Chicago and when I moved to Nashville my freshman year, I joined TPV. It has always been my dream to be a collegiate athlete, but it wasn’t until my first year at TPV I knew that volleyball was the only sport I wanted to play at that level. After my freshman year season ended, I switched from being a middle to being an outside and right-side hitter. During my first travel club season, I was able to quickly develop my volleyball skills and became a strong leader for my team. I found similar success during my school seasons; my sophomore year was my first year on varsity and I quickly worked my way up to being the starting outside. This team made it all the way to the state semi-finals! As one of the main leaders on my school team my junior year, I pushed myself and others to be the best that they could be.
This year I was moved up an extra year and am playing on an 18s team; I am the only girl this year at TPV to make this big of a jump in team levels. Knowing that I started late compared to all of the other girls on my team, I put all my effort into each drill and game and am not afraid to ask questions when I know I need help. I am a very hard-working, determined player and I push myself to get better each time I walk into the gym. I am also very coachable, which I pride myself on and credit it for the huge growth I have achieved over these past few years. I am a positive and energetic teammate who encourages and lifts her teammates up. Another one of my strengths is my ability to stay calm under pressure and get my job done. My parents have always been a huge inspiration for me and they always push me to be my best in everything that I do, which I take with me on and off the court. While I push myself to be the best I can be on the court, I push myself to be the best in the classroom as well. I work very hard in all of my classes and have had great success academically. I am looking to continue my academic rigor in college and continue to push myself on and off the court.
