My goal for playing college volleyball is to make a team where I will be challenged, as well as keep improving in all positions on the court. I am a very versatile player. I have been playing volleyball for recreational leagues, school, and travel teams for the last seven years. In middle school, I was the starting setter and then middle and outside hitter. As a Freshman (2012 fall season), I started as a middle hitter for the JV team at Father Ryan HS and toward the end of the season I played on the varsity team in the same position. I have played for Alliance VBC for the last five years. In the 2012-13 travel season, I was the starting middle blocker on the 15-2 team. For the 2013-14 school and travel season, I was the starting middle blocker for the FRHS varsity team. In an effort to receive more training as a setter, I played on the 16-3 team in a 5-1 rotation as the setter. During this travel season, my team won two of our tournaments playing in both 17 Club and 16 Power. I was the captain for both the 15-2 and 16-3 Alliance teams. In addition to playing travel volleyball, I was goalie for the lacrosse team as a freshman. This year, I am throwing shot put and discus on the track team. I love being active and participating in both fall and spring sports at school
I am an influential player on and off the court. I am extremely vocal and love to see my teammates succeed and improve. I would be an excellent candidate for any team because of my leadership capabilities. At the recent AVCA Combine, my Personal Insights Profile indicate that my "Adapted" behavior is a high I (Influence) and my "Natural" behavior is a high D (Dominance). I love a challenge! I have a strong work ethic and I enjoy improving in all positions. During games, I encourage all my team-mates to do their best. I can also read the court and help my team score points! I love going to practice, games, and tournaments; but academics is also a top priority.
I am always focused on my school work and I am very capable of using my time wisely to handle both academic and athletic responsibilities. This is evidenced by my 3.9 GPA. I am a well rounded student athlete. I am always eager to help others and improve myself by being a team player, focusing on academics, and volunteering my time for worthwhile activities. I enjoy giving back to the community and have spent time working on Relay for Life teams, assisting athletes at Special Olympics, and volunteering as a tutor for elementary students on Saturdays.
My major for college is undetermined. At this time, I am interested in pursuing Pharmacy School. I am strong in math and science. I will be taking AP Chemistry my junior year and will continue to seek out courses that will support my interest in the sciences. I am open to different opportunities and learning experiences in school. I will stay focused on my goals and I am looking for a coach and school that will partner with me to help me achieve success.
