Personal Statement

I have committed to attend and play volleyball at Hardin-Simmons University as of August 2018.  Thank you!

I am a lock-down serve receiver and I will be in college too.  I went the entire 2018-19 club season (playing up a year)  with 323 serve receives and only 24 handling errors.  I take pride in owning three fifths of the back row on serve receive.  I know what a good pass is.  I've studied it,  understand it, and am committed to it.  Serve receive is my passion.  I am one of the top passers in the class of 2021 in Texas in my opinion.  I can also score.  Over 25 percent of my serves in the 2018-19 club season were aces.

My 2018-19 club coach was Jan Barker,  who is in the Texas Coaches Hall of Fame. I received Best Defense award at a West Texas A&M volleyball camp and Best Passer award at College Expectations Camp in Amherst VA. in 2018. This camp is directed by college coaches and is for players intent on playing college ball, and I won the award as a rising sophomore! I also made it to the USAV High Performance top court at 2018 Crossroads and had no handling errors on that court. I have also attended libero camp at UCLA as well as Sports Performance First Contact Academy ("boot camp") in Chicago in 2019.

I am a good teammate. My parents have taught me to respect everyone whether they are popular or not. I have high morals.  I believe my peers respect me. as I have been a finalist for class favorite every year of high school.  I have ADD, but I study very hard and make mostly As and Bs.  I want to work in a career where I am able to help others, maybe a counselor, coach, or doctor. I love helping other people.

I want to play for a coach who believes in playing loose and having fun.  Athletes perform their best when they are not afraid of making mistakes.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Sports Performance First Contact Academy
  • 7/12/19 to 7/16/19
  • I completed the Sports Performance First Contact Academy in Lisle, Ill on July 16, 2019. This is the most intense and physically demanding camp that I have attended, and it was well worth it. I was participating in this academy with some of the best high school defenders in the country, with commits to Wisconsin, Northwestern, Illinois, Purdue, Notre Dame, Indiana, North Carolina, and others. The academy consisted of twelve 2 to 2.5 hour sessions over 5 days and covered every facet of first contact, as well as some back-up setter work. I came out of this camp a stronger player physically and mentally, and plan on attending it again next summer!
  • Camp/Event
  • ALL STAR COLLEGE EXPECTATIONS CAMP
  • 6/26/19 to 6/29/19
  • This event is for athletes intending to play college volleyball. It is run exclusively by college coaches. In 2018, I won "best passer" of the entire camp at 15 years old.
  • Camp/Event
  • Dallas Baptist University Elite Camp
  • 6/10/19 to 6/12/19
  • I was so looking forward to this camp as it has a great reputation and it delivered. I highly recommend it as it is tons of reps over three afternoons plus a lot of other things from the coach such as mental toughness, physical preparation, and what college coaches are looking for in student athletes. The coach has been there many years and she is amazing.
  • Camp/Event
  • MIZUNO LONE STAR
  • 4/19/19 to 4/21/19
  • Our team was decimated with injuries so we were not as competitive as we wanted to be, but we competed hard and enjoyed Lone Star as always.
  • Camp/Event
  • Las Vegas Classic
  • 2/16/19 to 2/18/19
  • We rolled off 5 straight match wins before we had a couple of key injuries. This is a great tournament.

Training

  • currently training under Krysten Reed of Amarillo Elite Volleyball.
  • 6 years
  • I have trained under several outstanding instructors for the last 7 years. I am currently training with Krysten Reed, former collegiate libero, and I have also trained with Division II All American Chandler Vogel of West Texas A&M, as well has Shannon Stroud Cavalier, former Division II All American from West Texas A&M. I have also attended Sports Performance First Contact Academy in Chicago, Coach Tom Houser's STAR Volleyball camp and College Expectations Camp in Amherst VA, and libero camp UCLA in Westwood, CA.
